BELLEDUNE TO BRIDGETOWN! A NEW MARKET FOR BELLEDUNE ARMOUR STONE

Belledune NB – The Belledune Port Authority saw Captain Ryszard Jaroslaw Maliczak and his crew arrive at the Port of Belledune through the night of May 24, 2012 from Wilmington, NC USA to load armour stone that will sail to Bridgetown, Barbados for the Government of Barbados, Ministry of Environment – Coastal Zone Management Unit. This is the first time armour stone is being shipped from Belledune to Bridgetown!

“We started working on this new business opportunity since 2004 and were thrilled to finally see the M.V. Baltic Pearl arrive at the Port of Belledune’s M.D. Young Terminal through the night on May 24, 2012,”said Daniel Roy, Owner of Roy’s Trucking & Landscaping Ltd. “Diversifying our markets and growing with the needs of global customers has been our focus; we are hopefully that this shipment proves to be the first of many.”

Belledune is home to some of the highest quality aggregates in the world and to several quarry owners who have developed this commodity over the past number of years.
Approximately 20,200 metric tonnes of armour stone was loaded on the M. V. Baltic Pearl by Eastern Canada Stevedoring, the stevedores and terminal operator for the M.D. Young Terminal at the Port of Belledune.

“Over the past few years the Belledune Port Authority has seen interested companies from around the world visit Belledune to see first-hand the aggregates available as well as the Port of Belledune,” said Jenna MacDonald, Director of Marketing at the BPA. “This new shipment and new route is a testament to the hard work of Mr. Daniel Roy and his team at Roy’s Trucking & Landscaping Ltd. as well as the partners that were able to provide guidance when shipping to new markets at Cyber Freight Systems and Eastern Canada Stevedoring.”
