First Ship of 2008 at the Port of Belledune

The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) officially greeted Captain Winfried E. Breuer Master of the M.V. “Medemborg”, the first ship to lay anchor at the Port of Belledune in 2008.

The “Medemborg” is registered in the Netherlands and her loading port was Port of Antwerp, Belgium. The vessel’s agent is Calypso Marine Agency represented by Mr. Raymond Corbin who attended the ceremony. The M. V. “Medemborg” docked at the Port of Belledune the afternoon of January 3rd, 2008 where the Vessel is currently loading approximately 8000 MT of Zinc Concentrate.  The next stop for the M.V. “Medemborg” will be at the Port of Kokkola, Finland.

Mr. Rayburn Doucett, President & CEO of the BPA, presented Captain Breuer with a commemorative gift at a ceremony held at the Belledune Port Authority’s Administrative offices.

Mr. Doucett also took the opportunity to welcome the Captain to the Port of Belledune as well as thank the staff and Board of Directors for their continuous support during the last three years. He also stated that “2007 should prove to be another exceptional year even after two record breaking years with two new warehouses under construction and other exciting business developments on the horizon for 2008”. We are expecting a substantial surplus again this year mainly due to efficient management and Board direction.

Many dignitaries were present including the Honourable Charles Hubbard, Member of Parliament  who welcomed the Captain and his crew to the community. Representatives from Xstrata Zinc and other terminal operators also attended the ceremony.
